RHINO LACROSSE HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF LACROSSE OPERATIONS

PORTLAND, OR – Rhino Lacrosse, Oregon’s premier lacrosse organization headed up by Ryan Powell, has just named Scott DeMonte as the new Director of Lacrosse Operations. DeMonte, who has joined Rhino from i9 Sports, will oversee all the planning and daily operations of select teams, leagues, clinics and recruiting assistance.

“Scott will expand Rhino Lacrosse in our effort to provide players with the best lacrosse training, and skill development options. He has the business and lacrosse background to make Rhino one of the top lacrosse organizations nationally and we’re thrilled he has joined our team” says Rhino Lacrosse founder Ryan Powell, “Scott is one of the most respected lacrosse coaches on both coasts. His ties to lacrosse across the country make him a tremendous asset to our Rhino players who may want to play lacrosse at the next level.”

As Director of Lacrosse Operations, DeMonte will be responsible for coordinating all facets of lacrosse events and logistical planning. Camps, clinics, tournaments, training and elite-level travel select teams will all fall under DeMonte’s reign as he helps increase Rhino’s lacrosse growth on the West Coast and in the United States.

"I couldn’t be happier to join Rhino Lacrosse. I was part of the first fall league in 2006 and to see where it has come over the last four years is amazing. I look forward to helping bring Rhino Lacrosse and it’s players to even greater heights,” DeMonte said.

Hailing form Huntington, New York, DeMonte played lacrosse for Farmingdale College on Long Island and the University of Rhode Island. He has his BA in Business from University of Rhode Island and Masters in Physical Education from Hoftsra University. His lacrosse accolades include JUCO Academic All-American, two-time First Team All League (Pioneer League), Team Captain and MVP Senior Year. He was also the head lacrosse coach for SUNY Plattsburgh(2003-2006) in NY and the University of California at Santa Barbara (1999-2003) where he was named League and National Coach of the Year in 2003. DeMonte has also coached internationally in seven foreign countries as a member of the coaching staff for USA West which included coaching in the 2002 World Games in Perth, Australia. Most recently he was the varsity offensive coordinator for Lake Oswego HS in 2008 and 2009 where they captured two league titles for the first time ever. DeMonte lives in Portland with his wife Jess, son Will, and dog Karl.

Professional lacrosse player Ryan Powell founded Rhino Lacrosse in 2005 in Portland, Oregon. Rhino Lacrosse operates boys and girl’s youth, middle school, high school lacrosse leagues, lacrosse performance training, all star traveling select teams, summer academies, clinics and tournaments.
